STOCKTON DISTRICT

VEHICLE WATCH

Stockton Police are offering vehicle owners the chance to join Vehicle Watch,

a new scheme to protect cars and vans from theft in the Stockton area.

Stockton Neighbourhood Watch team are spearheading a new scheme designed to make

your car noticeable to Police should it be stolen.

Bright yellow stickers with the ‘Stockton District Vehicle Watch’ logo have been produced

to place on the bottom, right hand side on the inside of the rear window.

Once placed on the windscreen, they are extremely difficult to remove.

The idea is to place the logo on cars that are not normally used at night. Then, if a car with

a bright yellow Vehicle Watch sticker is spotted out at night, particularly between midnight and

5am, when cars are at the greatest risk of being stolen, the vehicle will be stopped by Police

and checked.

Police Liaison Officer  Ron Baker said: “The scheme is designed to

drastically improve the likelihood of your vehicle being spotted and stopped by Police should it

be stolen.

“Should drivers taking part in the scheme need to take their cars out at night, it is advisable

to carry proof of identity and ownership as the aim of the scheme is for Police Officers to

stop cars displaying the discs if they are spotted out on the roads at night.”

Residents of Stockton can join Vehicle Watch by visiting Stockton Police Station or contacting Stockton’s Neighbourhood Watch Liaison Officer on 01642 302341. Upon submission

of the car’s registration, members will be issued with a sticker.
